Bob Marley & The Wailers - Australia Tour, 1979
Bob Marley, the Rasta man, arrived in Sydney to expound the Rastafarian philosophy and to play some Rasta Music.
This tour will bring him and his band, The Wailers, to Sydney, through some cities, on April 27, 28 and 29 at the Hordern Pavilion. Not for Marley the cushioned life that rock stars generally lead, no four-star hotel for this musician. Marley, dressed in a towelling shirt, herringbone trousers and a huge tam o’shanter hiding his uncut hair .
After 17 years in the music industry and about a dozen records, Marley is quite a force in Jamaica.
Marley does not mind when white men, including Eric Clapton who recorded Marley’s song Who Shot the Sherrif on the album 461 Ocean Boulevarde, play his music.
“In the end, all men will sing the same song... It will be so. One heart, one love and one destiny for all people.”
