Muddy Waters - Voter's Club, Denver, CO, 1968
A Jumbo Globe Concert Poster. An original poster advertising blues legend Muddy Waters for a week's worth of shows at the Voter's Club in Denver, Colorado in mid-March 1968.
The brilliant purple color really jumps off this board, making you wonder why Globe didn't use it more often.
Muddy is an untouchable legend, of course, which makes the song titles between his two names all the more mystifying. We researched "Paw" deeply, even contacting Muddy's biographer and a few blues experts. Nobody had a clue where that comes from. So we're surmising it may have been an inside joke, but that's just one of many theories.
"Bird Nest" was simply Muddy's latest single, but he hadn't charted a 45 in 10 years. Then you get two super-groaner typos, surely the Globe typesetter's fault; he must've not been a blues fan. Let's just say it was supposed to read More Real Folk Blues, Muddy's latest compilation album, and blues Hall-of-Famer Otis Spann on piano. Finally, you must be wondering... "Clear Waters, Vocalist" was not someone related to Muddy; he was blues vocalist Eddy Clearwater, who sometimes went under that name.
