Sonic Youth, Nirvana, STP - Melody Ballroom Portland, Moore Theatre Seattle, 1990

A poster for two Pacific Northwest appearances for Sonic Youth, supported by "two hot / bands" Nirvana and STP (not to be confused with Stone Temple Pilots). Sonic Youth was on tour to promote their sixth full-length studio album, Goo, hence the usage of the Raymond Pettibon album cover artwork on the top portion of the poster. From the late seventies to the mid eighties, Pettibon was associated with the US hardcore punk band Black Flag and the label SST Records. Nirvana had released Bleach the previous year, but the drummer on most of the songs from that album, Chad Channing, was no longer in the band for these shows with Sonic Youth and STP. STP was an all-female group with Julia Cafritz from Pussy Galore and Free Kitten.
