The Who, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Little Feat, The Outlaws, Streetwalkers - UK Tour Football Club, 1976
Concert/tour poster for the Who's 1976 tour of UK football (soccer) fields, "Who Put the Boot In", Design by Hollyhead, which included opening bands Little Feat, the Outlaws, Streetwalkers and the Sensational Alex Harvey Band and featured stops at the Charlton Athletic Football Club (London) (May/31), Celtic Football Club in Glasgow (Jun/5) and Swansea City Football Club (Jun/12).
Three massive U.K. shows at football stadiums. The short tour was billed as “The Who Put the Boot In”. The Charlton gig was rated at the time as the loudest concert ever by the Guiness Book of Records. These were also The Who’s final UK concerts with drummer Keith Moon, apart from a couple of low key gigs filmed for “The Kids Are Alright” movie.
Reports suggest that more than 80,000 people were crammed into a stadium with a concert crowd limit of 50,000. The Who started, as usual, with “I Can’t Explain” followed by “Substitute”. The Who finished with “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, ending with an incredible scream from Roger.
